UNHCR Ireland will be teaming up with Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI) for a football match in honour of World Refugee Day 2010. The event, entitled the 'Fair Play Football Cup', will feature eight football teams involving refugees, community groups, Government agencies and the media playing in a World Cup-style tournament.

On World Refugee Day, UNHCR recognises the strength and resolve of forcibly uprooted people and reaffirms its commitment to protect and find solutions for them. World Refugee Day is a day of respect and remembrance for some of the world's most vulnerable people. UNHCR Ireland will mark the occasion with this tournament, conceived in the same positive and inclusive spirit as this summer's football World Cup. The day will highlight and celebrate the positive contribution of refugees to Irish society and their own experiences since coming to the country.

The day will open and close with special guests, and be a family-friendly event offering children's activities, entertainment and information stands from UNICEF, SARI, Africa Centre and Fáilte Isteach.

UNHCR Ireland invites all to come along, show their support and join in the fun!

Location: Law Society Football pitch, Blackhall place, Dublin 7

Time: 11am-2.30pm
