Syrian Asylum Applications in the EU, Norway and Switzerland: April 2011 - March 2014

The number of Syrians arriving to the European Union, Norway and Switzerland seeking international protection continues to increase, although it remains comparatively low, as less than 4% of Syrians who have fled the conflict have sought safety in Europe.

There have been a total of 96,326 new asylum applications of Syrians since the beginning of the conflict. Two countries - Sweden and Germany – have received 55% of all Syrian applications in the EU, Switzerland and Norway

1. Sweden: 29,519

2. Germany: 25,268

3. Bulgaria: 6,240

4. Netherlands: 4,678

5. United Kingdom: 4,084
